Inside the Classroom: Students Bring History to Life with Prehistoric Art Project

Posted Date: 11/03/25 (8:52 AM)

Sixth graders at RSE are taking a creative approach to history as they learn about early humans during the Paleolithic Era. Under the guidance of teacher Megan Saunders, students explored how art played an essential role in communication and storytelling thousands of years ago.

After taking a virtual tour of the Hall of Bulls in the famous Lascaux Caves of France, students were inspired to recreate their own versions of the cave paintings.

Using materials that mimicked the look and feel of ancient art, they illustrated scenes of early human life and nature to demonstrate their understanding of prehistoric culture and creativity.

The project blended history, art, and imagination, helping students bring the past to life right in their classroom.
