Fifth graders in Mrs. Searles’ and Mr. Albert’s classes took a creative shot at math mastery during “March Mathness,” a celebration of numbers, teamwork, and competitive fun.
Inspired by the spirit of the NCAA basketball tournament, March Mathness transformed the classroom into an interactive math arena. Students rotated through themed stations, reinforcing key math skills, earning points for their "bracket seed" by completing tasks, giving their best effort, and collaborating with classmates. The energy was high as students cheered each other on and strategized to maximize their math scores.
The excitement continued the next day as the real tournament tipped off. Students faced off in free-throw competitions—with a twist. Before taking their shots, competitors had to solve math problems correctly, blending mental agility with physical coordination. The tournament featured a 17-bracket format, giving every student a chance to compete, advance, and celebrate their hard work.
March Mathness was more than just a game—it was a winning formula for engagement, growth, and school spirit.
